Department:  Accounting & Business Law

Hometown:  I grew up in the small town (about 250 residents) of Big Falls, MN, about 40 miles south of International Falls, MN.

Roommates (family, friends, pets):  I’m lucky enough to live with three beautiful ladies: My wife, Jill; our golden retriever, Maggie; and our yellow lab, Zoey.

Guilty pleasures (junk food/TV/etc.):  I love camping (assuming it’s in a camper), a nice meal, a good bottle of wine, and great company.  If all of these are available at the same time and place, I’d consider it perfection.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?  The greatest occupation on the planet…a CPA.

What was your major in undergrad?  Accounting, from Minnesota State University, Mankato.

Desert Island Categories:
(If you were stranded on a deserted island, and you could pick one item for each category to have with you, what would you choose?)
–        Book:  Siddhartha, by Hermann Hesse
–        Movie:  The Shawshank Redemption
–        TV Series:  The Family Guy
–        Album:  Anything from Alabama
–        Food item:  Tartar Sauce…I’m assuming I’ll be eating a lot of fish
Why did you decide to pursue teaching?

Throughout my professional career, I’ve always enjoyed being a part of helping less experienced professionals see the true beauty and value of using information to make sound business decisions.  Teaching seemed to be a natural extension of that activity.

What has been your favorite teaching moment?

Any moment that involves hearing from a student who has been able to apply what was learned in the classroom to situations that contribute to success in the real world.
